Chris Perez is a Canadian based Filipino artist practicing in abstract painting and mural art. Perez pushes moments of arbitrary movement to create an inner dialogue with material and environment, like that of an abstract dance with painting. Using spray paint and brush, his work straddles the line between abstract and representation, comfortably fitting in both commercial galleries and in the community's streets. Chris travels frequently to international cities focusing on large scale murals and paintings, broadening connections with communities near and far. As a local Toronto muralist, he works with the City and communities to execute innovative collaborative projects.
Chris Perez (born 1990) studied at OCADU, received a BFA in Drawing and Painting (2012)
Impulsive expressionism. Moments of movement. Spray Paint.
The exploration of self-dialogue with material and atmosphere, grants moments of incidental and intentional aesthetics. Art continues to form an inner dialogue between viewer and content. The unconscious movement through painting produces a learning experience for audience and artist. Visual elements and aesthetics within one’s control, judged and defined. Allow oneself to interact with the uncontrollable, to embrace the sense of boundless energy.
